Follow The Data

At OpenSourceScience, we suspend judgment about the claims suggested by the experiments we examine. When you edit here, or participate in our research projects, you’re joining a community that has made a conscious decision to be open-minded about this science. For those who already support the claims being made, this means respecting others and being open to the possibility that the claims will be falsified. For those predisposed to reject the claims suggested, it means respecting others, and allowing experiments to tell the story. OpenSourceScience Editors work toward creating an evenhanded, unbiased presentation. This is not an easy task, but our goal is to go beyond the usual polarized discussion and edge a little closer to the truth.

Democratization of Science

Democratizing science means creating practices and institutions that are transparent, accessible, and accountable to the general public. In addition to being rigorous, we OpenSourceScience strive to make science popular, relevant, and participatory. At OpenSourceScience, we engage everyone in the process of examining our studies. This creates an “extended peer review” that allows science to inform and be informed by the public. It also creates a feedback loop where scientists educate the public about their research and listen to the public about what kind of research needs to be done.

Collaboration

It’s hard to work together, but it can be fun too. OpenSourceScience taps into the vast intellectual resources spread throughout the Internet to improve our understanding of who we are, and why we're here. You are that intellectual resource, and you have a stake in OpenSourceScience. We welcome your contribution.
